Ambience nice, clean and well maintained, although too dark for my taste. Service was friendly and attentive, but a bit slow and not knowledgeable about the menu or wines. Food was good, but not great. My La Zuppa (seafood, tomatoes, garlic, & liguini ) contained very little seafood and was almost tasteless. While not bad, certainly not worth the price charged. Left the restaurant feeling like I had been conned.

Food and service was great. I had the pork chop which was off the hook. Place is small but it was enough. I do highly recommend for a higher quality meal in Treasure Island. Ry the carpaccio.

on our staycation at the beach decided to go here for our one nice dinner out. I had heard good things about it and was eager to try it. Arrived at 7:00 on a Friday night and got a cozy table for two. The décor is Mediterranean , dimly lit and cozy. This night they had an excellent acoustic guitar player entertaining. We started with a cocktail, beer for him, tequila martini for me, while we perused the wine list. Ended up with a decent bottle of Santori Amarone ($85) which was quite good. Started with the pate platter which come out with two nice slices of pate and all the accoutrements. ($9.00) I love pate and this did not disappoint. We also tried the special tuna trio of the night, a smoked tuna spread on crostini, tuna sashimi and tuna crudo. All very good and fresh although the spread was just kind of a glammed up tuna salad. For dinner, after much debate, we went with the Paella for him and the Beef Shortribs for me. The Paella ($29) . we requested it to be crispy (as a true paella should be) and the chef obliged. Unfortunately it made the Paella so dry and overcooked it was not good at all. The shortribs, ($26) with a cabernet barbque sauce was very good. Served with a mini au gratin and fresh asparagus. The ribs were nice and tender , the sauce was almost bordering on overdone, almost but not quite. For dessert we ordered our fav limencello cake, it was good, but not as good as the craft in St Pete . Ended up at the bar for a couple glasses of Port to quell our dessert craving and get a chance to listen to the guitarist. While at the bar we were speaking of our dinners and before you knew it Chef Karim came out to speak with us, apologized for the Paella and told us next time we come in to ask for him personally so he can take care of us. You can tell he's a chef/owner that really cares about his clientel. He checked one very table and knew many patrons by their names. I'll go back, and try his famous tangine or duck, after I ask for him personally!

The atmosphere is great , Armando our waiter was great. The house wine was terrible!!! We switched to Armandos suggestion it was great. The Mediterranean appetizer awesome but the main course was very mediocre overpriced for the taste or not taste enough for the price. The paella was disappointing it lacked flavor and was very dry. The lamb skewers were 6-8 small pieces of meat total in 2 skewers lacking the advertised mint flavor. Will give it one more trail The bill was Salt Rock prices but not even close in taste.

I regularly vacation in Treasure Island and The Pearl is one of the best restaurants on the island. I have recently discovered I cannot eat any grains or gluten and when I returned to the Pearl on this vacation and explained my diet limitations they specially made one of the entrees (Buffalo medallions) for me. The meal was amazing as was the wine recommendation. The waiter was very friendly and responsive. I will definitely be coming back on the next vacation!

We had the early bird special(s) tonight. The service was excellent, and the food portions on the early menu are big enough for two guests that are over 6" tall! I NEVER go to early bird special offerings....except tonight...and I am glad I did. I have been to The Pearl for the regular menu a few times...its great too. I had the sirloin steak 8 oz. cooked perfectly, and a nice size helping of steamed mixed vegetables. My friend had calfs liver and onions, and she said it was very good. She had split pea soup instead of the salad that I has as a starter. We will be back. BTW the waiter told us that on Monday nights, they have 1/2 off bottles of wine.

My favorite!!! My family and I travel to St. Pete beach twice a year and this is the best restaurant near the beach or in St. Pete area. The food is amazing! The lobster bisque is the best I have ever had! The seafood, steaks, salad, wine list.....everything is good. The ambiance is very quaint and it feels like you are in a different country...Service is great and feels family oriented. YOU have to try this place if you have a love for delicious food!

Another wonderful meal at The Pearl. Short ribs were unbelievable and Kelly was terrific as our waitress. Second time during the vacation we've eaten at the Pearl. If we're back in this area again, we'll return

Thought the service was great and the atmoshere was warm and cozy, listening to soft guitar while eating was a definite plus. The food was very good as well however not quite worth our 123$ bill 150 $ with tip. we took our 9 yr old daughter and there really wasnt much for her however the waiter did mention they would be willing to make a pasta just for her ...she opted for the soup du jour and to sample our food...she really loved the escargot appetizer.Overall it was an enjoyable evening

Quaint romantic spot with awesome food and a decent wine selection. Expect French Mediterranean tapas and entrees that are quite different from almost any other restaurant in the Bay area. The creme brulee is also very good. Highly recommended if you enjoy great food. But don't expect a happening scene, awesome decor or a great bar because you won't find any of that here.

Monday night dinner for two with two bottles of wine. Just under $300. There is a large selection of appetizers and we had several. Tuna tatami special featured good quality tuna but sadly it was served in a puddle of what tasted suspiciously like bottled teriyaki sauce. Salmon tartare was a complete failure and we ate only half. Stuffed portobello was very good. Escargot were inedible. Really. Finished by splitting an entree of grilled duck breast with peppercorn sauce. Tasty but duck was seriously overcooked. Wine list is uninspired and selection criteria unimaginable. Didn't recognize anything. First cab (about $60) started pruney and degenerated to sweet. Second bottle (about $75) was much better and would have been appropriate at, say, $50. But the waitress was very prompt, courteous and accurate. Every restaurant has an off night. Maybe this was theirs. I could be talked into eating there again - maybe for lunch with beer. They would have to earn my dinner business.

We drove from Tampa on vacation as our friends parents know Katherine (Karim's wife). They are both amazing and the food was amazing. I had never had Moroccan food before so was a little weary on the flavors originally. We started with the mussels and soft shell crab, and then got the lamb tagine and lamb kabobs. This was one of those meals where everything was so good that you didn't think the next thing could top it, but it did. Everything from the salad dressing was insanely good. Go and try this place even if you're not sure if you'll like the flavors. They have seafood, pasta, chicken etc. there is definitely something for everyone. Also, you are only steps to the beach!

My wife and I were vacationing in St Petersburg and were attracted by this restaurant's high rating and rave reviews. I mean to reinforce all of the superlatives. The food was spectacular. My wife had pasta with a rich lobster sauce and I had a dish called La Zuppa, pasta with a pot pouri of seafood. The freshness of the seafood and powerful flavors were unique. No appetizers or dessert. We both ordered a glass (rather generous pour) of Cabernet. Our bill with 20% tip was $95. It was a memorable evening. Very busy on a Monday night. Waitress was busy but still made time to talk to us. Highly recommended.

After a shaky start, an enjoyable experience. Strike 1: even with reservations, we were seated adjacent to the server station. Strike 2: 20 minutes after sitting down, no drinks or bread on the table. Strike 2.5: a Moroccan restaurant runs out of hummus at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. We almost left after our first expertly crafted cocktail, but then we tasted the bleu cheese and olive pate. It was so good, that even the piercing cackle of the woman at the next table melted away (indoor voice?). The lamb was good. The filet was sublime. And the service was capable. We'll be back, but not on a weekend night.

Another great time and another great meal. Service fantastic and all foods from apps to entrees were exceptional yet again. Don't miss this one and be sure to try one of the lamb dishes, the shank entree excellent.

March 13' walked in a late Friday night to a pleasant surprise. Since moving here from the West Coast 7 months ago I have a had a real struggle finding classy fine dining. There are only handful of nice places outside the onslaught of beach bars, coconut shrimp, and flip flops, the Pearl is one of those few. At 3/4 full the ambiance was very subtle and tasteful. I was immediately greeted by a nice fellow at the door and decided to eat up at the bar. I passed a man playing guitar and he was AMAZING! I ws then greeted by the bartender and she was very polite and attentive. The staff all at one point made an effort to greet me. I ordered a beer while looking over the menu. I decided on the ribeye. What I got was a steak the size of my thigh!! It was perfectly cooked along with sides of fresh grilled vegetables and scalloped potatoes. I had a delicious glass of Cabernet recommended by the chef. It paired excellently!! I hear gripes about pricing, but being from the West Coast this was exactly on par for a restaurant of this caliber. I highly recommend The Pearl to anyone who has had their fill of Hawaiian shirts and a deep fried menu. I will be a regular!

We have eaten at the Pearl at least 2 - 3 times a month for the last couple of years, so you would think by now we would have tried everything on the menu. But that's the best thing about Chef Karim, his menu is constantly evolving, getting new items that are as good or better. Every year he returns to Morroco to visit, which is great for him and his family. It's also fantastic for us, because he comes back with new ideas, recipes (I think his mom is involved here), and more excitement about cooking. Not everything has made the official menu yet, but if you ask about his specials including the early bird, you will find some new starters, entrees, or just plain twists on old favorites. Other changes have happened over the last couple of months. He expanded the size of The Pearl, adding contiguous space from a adjoining store front. This has been well used since its almost always packed especially on the weekends when he tends to have music. The Pearl has also gotten their full liquor license, so your incredible meal can include signature martinis and cocktails in addition to the excellent wine. Some of my favorites are: rib eye with mushrooms and Roquefort, cured salmon, blue cheese pate, and late night tacos (fish, pork, beef, feta, blue cheese, cured lemons and other fillings). The Pearl just keeps getting better every time we go.

As our waiter noted, this place has excellent food but the service is horrible! But really, this place has great food, great service, a very nice atmosphere, and is very accommodating to dietary needs. After a rather unpleasant experience at Crabby Bill's for lunch, this was a welcome treat for dinner. Ask for Nick, he'll show you a good time.

We were staying in Treasure Island for the week and stumbled upon a raving review for the Pearl. We were not disappointed! Everything was fabulous- atmosphere, food and service. It was by far the best dining experience of our vacation. Our waiter, Nick, was knowledgeable and friendly and made excellent recommendations for wine, entrees and dessert. We were traveling with my husband's 93 year old grandmother, who has a very limited palate, and they were able to accommodate her and served her a dinner she enjoyed immensely (filet mignon with the sauce on the side and potatoes au gratin). She ate every last bite! I had the Shrimp Provencale, which was phenomenal, my husband had the boullabaise and a lobster bisque to start, and my father-in-law had the duck a'la orange. All dishes were extraordinary! The desserts were also wonderful- we had a selection, including the creme brulee, the berries Melba and the profiteroles. I would very highly recommend this restaurant. If you are in the area, this is a must-visit!

We went to The Pearl last night on fellow Yelp'ers recommendations, and boy were we *not* disappointed! The food was simply wonderful. After hearing the specials, we both changed our minds. "Fondue" with puff pastry and raspberry compote and the escargot with puff pastry appetizers were an amazing start. The salad that came with our meals was a great addition, the dressing (some kind of Italian vinaigrette - but different) was so delicious.. For dinner we both had specials. I had the Angus Filet with a wine reduction and Boursin cheese on top, my partner had the swordfish prepared "balsamic piccata". I honestly don't think I've ever had a more perfectly cooked piece of steak (rare) ever -melt in your mouth! The swordfish was also perfectly cooked and the balsamic not too strong as to overpower the capers. Also melt in your mouth. The entire atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxing and comfortable. Will we go back .... ABSOLUTELY!

This place is awesome! Ive been there twice and both times were for the Early Bird. If you get ther before 6 you can get a great meal for 10 to 12 bucks. The ambiance is great, not by the water but it is very relaxed. The Crem bru le cheesecake dessert there is phenominal!!!

Wow, was in St Pete Beach for a week and this was by far the best meal I had. Very good wine selection. The tuna martini was an excellent appetizer. The salad included with the entree was amazing, and I'm not a big salad fan. For my entree, had the fish of the day, Chilean sea bass, prepared in the Tangine style, the house specialty. Wow is all I can say. Another person in my group had the lamb shank prepared Tangine style as well. The meat was falling off the bone, it was amazingly tender. The creme brulee and profiterole were outstanding.

Really great salad dressing! Awesome service. The chef is very friendly. All the food was delicious. Had the lamb targine and my wife had the shrimp provincial. All great, lamb literally fell off the bone. You need to visit this place if u are in the area. Very nice and relaxing atmosphere as well. Can't go wrong here.

What a great place. Enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Dinner this evening. The Sea Bass was amazing, highly recommended. My husband had the BlueCheese Steak, cooked to perfection. Chef Karim is a culinary master!

The Pearl is outstanding and consistent. I have eaten there many times and never had anything less than an outstanding meal. My friends love it too. Its basically high end modern international. Karim, the Chef, and his team of waiters are dedicated to providing outstanding food and excellent service. Karim is Moroccan but his food is truly international. They also have an excellent wine list. In terms of indiviidual items, the blue cheese pate is not on the menu but they always have it and it is delicious. The olives are some of the best kalamatas i have had. Ask for them with garlic. The lamb chops are cooked to perfection, the ostrich comes with a delicious sauce, and his steaks are right up there with the best steak houses. He makes a salad with a dressing like none you have ever tasted. Interestingly, he also offers sushi which is some of the best we have ever had. They can make everything for you tapas style. If its just a small group, sit at the bar, you will get personal service from Karim. If you live anywhere in or around Treasure Island you need to go to this place.

Really makes me cringe to give this place 2 stars because frankly I think they deserve less, but in the interest of fairness I'll let them have 2 since it wasn't disgusting. Good? Not really. Nothing wrong with serving this kind of food, but for these prices ($32-$52 per entree), there is something definitely wrong. I felt that it least deserved an explanation. This place left me feeling conned. The food didn't look or taste like quality ingredients. In fact, I was convinced the "wild mushrooms" where canned but the woman who never identified herself but stood at my table and defended the food claimed they were "fresh". If they were, they managed to take fresh mushrooms and make them have the taste and consistency of canned. The lack of creativity and skill the chef has was apparent throughout the meal. The lobster bisque should really just have been saffron bisque as that was all you could taste. A little saffron goes a long way and it was so overpowering you could smell it before it even hit the table. I do love saffron but if there was any lobster in this bisque, I will never know. Then came some weird "salad" that I wasn't even sure what the point was. The presentation was basically this, let's take a cheap bread plate, grab a fistful of mixed greens (you know the kind, you can buy it pre bagged from any local grocery) throw it on there, add a cherry tomato and a few cucumber slices and douse some balsamic on it. Classy. Finally came an uninspired, not perfectly butchered filet mignon. The meat didn't have the feel of good quality and it was served with a few new potatoes thrown on the plate and unappetizing looking asparagus. Really? A chef owned restaraunt and all your imagination could conjur up was red potatoes and some asparagus?! Fine, but I can get the same quality & inspiration at Outback for half the price. A plate like this really makes you feel ripped off. The hubbs had the la zupta, pasta dish with mussels, scallops, shrimp, clams, calamari & unidentifiable fish nuggets (his words). The mussels were over cooked and calamari inedible. I asked to speak to the chef since I was so confused with the meal I just encountered. He couldn't be bothered to come out and face what he had served I guess. It's ok chef, your lack of confidence was evident in the food you just served me. Instead, some woman who never identified herself materialized at the table (never acknowledged that I had asked for the chef or explained why she was there instead) and after trying to explain that for these prices I was expecting more then a meh meal, I watched her just grow irritated and defend the food. I told her that I wanted to give them honest feedback and a chance to make it better before I wrote the review. What would have made it better for me was to have the chef that I asked for come out and speak to me. That, to me, at least shows that they care enough to present themselves and perhaps want to improve. She didn't handle the situation well and it really just made my feelings about this place worse. All in all, if you want to stroke their unearned ego I'm sure they'd be glad to listen. Clearly, a negative review is irrelevant to them, perhaps because on further inspection of their high reviews on here, they look suspiciously cooked. Either way, it's middle of the road chain quality food for unwarranted high prices. I cook better food at home. Oh and the service wasn't that great either, not worst i've ever had but not good. Meh, just like the food.

Definitely 5 stars! We have been to many restaurants in the area over the years -- thanks to the good reviews for The Pearl on Yelp, we finally made it here. Our server recommended any of the Tagine entrees. My husband and son had the lamb Tagine and I had the fish Tagine. Both were beyond excellent! It is a more upscale restaurant but worth every cent. Service was great, atmosphere was relaxed and very nice. We will be back!

Ignore the outdated decor, the large tacky statue outside, and the servers who are all texting during their downtime, and the pack of cigarettes hidden behind a potted plant. The food and friendly service carry The Pearl a long way. My husband and I got to the restaurant just after 4pm (strange time, I know) when the doors first opened, and to our surprise, there's an early bird menu, which offers about 5 different dishes, which rotate week-to-week, and a soup or salad for just $10! You have to be seated before 5:45 in order to order from this menu. Our server, who was Moroccan himself recommended the chicken tagine, (which was on the early bird) and the lamb tagine, which was not. (Note: On it's own, the tagines cost about $20, so obviously the early bird special is the way to go!) We weren't disappointed with the tagines. Both came with nicely cooked couscous and veggies, and the meats were tender and well seasoned, but not overly salty or oil-laden. We left feeling satisfied and happy. Can't wait to try this place out again!

I liked the atmosphere and service but the food wasn't spectacular. I would prefer somewhere else with more authentic Mediterranean food.

The early bird menu is a great value. We had the ribs and beef stroganoff and both were good. Portions were normal, not Flintstone sized and the ribs were cooked to perfection. Wait staff was attentive and nice. $5 martinis and wine are a nice touch as well. We will definitely return.

Very nice place on Treasure Island. The atmosphere and lighting is cozy and intimate. The night we stopped in a very talented guitarist was deep into his music. We sat at a hightop table in the bar area and had drinks and appetizers. Two of us had the lobster bisque and two had a salad. Both were excellent. We also split a middle-eastern sampler which was very good. A little weak on the tap beer selection but the cocktail drinks were generous and tasty. We would definitely return if we are in the area again to try some of the entrees which looked amazing.

My boyfriend and I were on vacation in St. Pete and looking for a nice place to eat....The Pearl more than met the bill! We were greated by a very friendly hostess who sat us at a very romantic table next to the fireplace. The waitress, who was also quite friendly, was knowledgeable about the menu and made recommendations for food and wine pairings. We decided on the special, humus sampler and buffalo medallions preceded by fresh bread and salad....it was all nothing short of fabulous! Not only was the food amazing but the ambiance was so romantic with candles, low lighting, and a live acoustic guitarist. Was the perfect dinner to lead into a marriage proposal on the beach under the stars! My fiancé and I will definitely return here if we are ever back in the area!

Loved it! Here on vacation we found this spot on yelp. Went in for an early dinner and people were pouring in by 5 pm. On a Monday! My husband had the strip steak. He loved it. Cooked perfectly. With amazing sides. He's one of those guys that if a place has a great review he hates it. But not here. He loved! One of the best meals he has had in a long time. (And we are from a major city and eat out way too much!) Service was great. Ppl were so friendly. I'm so glad we found this place. They have amazing early bird specials. We had to idea so it was def a happy surprise!

This place is a DELIGHTFUL surprise near the beaches of Madeira. When you think the beach, one would normally come to dine on seafood, but we came to find this special moroccan restaurant that followed up with thirst quenching martinis, a warm bread basket that we asked seconds for, and two great entrees that included RACK OF LAMB, and a SEAFOOD CREPE. I would urge anyone to go for the rack of lamb. It was by the far the best and yet delicate savory meat I've ever had the courtesy to dine upon. And not to mention, that our waiter, whom I believe his name was Ali, was the most amazing waiter that we had experienced during our entire stay in Florida. This place is great for a late meal, when the lights are dim and just looking for a little sexy for your Moroccan inspired meals. Thank you The Pearl. You have been more than generous to us. See you next year.

Chef Karim is brilliant. I love that I can find excellent duck (and a few different ways!). I will say the au poivre is better than the orange, and the duck pasta has an addicting sauce. I've also had great experiences with the lamb here too. I'm not sure if they do it all the time, but the Pearl has had appetizer samplers in the past so you could taste a bunch of the different options (pita, hummus, baba ghanoush, bruschetta, an olive spread, marinated feta, dolmades have all been on this platter at some point). I will say I'm not super crazy about the starter salad's dressing, but that's just a personal preference. Last time I was in (a month or so ago) I heard they were working on new menu options, so I'm excited to get back in and see if it's happened yet.
